57th annual DAYTONA 500 set for a 1 p.m. ET start

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – January 14, 2015 – The 57th annual DAYTONA 500 on Sunday, Feb. 22, NASCAR’s biggest, richest and most prestigious race, will start at 1 p.m. (TV – FOX, FOX Deportes; Radio – MRN Radio, SiriusXM). It’s the sixth straight year “The Great American Race” will have a start time of 1 p.m.

In this year’s DAYTONA 500, Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be seeking his second consecutive DAYTONA 500 victory. The last driver to win back-to-back DAYTONA 500s was Sterling Marlin back in 1994-95.

Budweiser Speedweeks 2015 will also provide fans with a sneak peek of DAYTONA Rising, the $400 million frontstretch redevelopment. Approximately 40,000 new seats will be available on the west side of the stadium, from Turn 1 toward the center of the track. Fans in these wider more comfortable seats will enjoy many of the new amenities being created by DAYTONA Rising.

CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: RIDE ALONG WITH THE CORVETTE C7.R FOR 24 HOURS

DETROIT June 11, 2014 – This year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans is the most anticipated one for Corvette Racing since the team’s debut image003 (2)there in 2000. It’s the first time at the Circuit de la Sarthe for the Chevrolet Corvette C7.R, and American fans can ride along with the team for the entirety of the race.

Each of the two Corvettes – the No. 73 and No. 74 Corvette C7.R – will sport in-car cameras from green flag to checkered flag. In addition, a fixed camera in the Corvette Racing garage will stream to the Web for the full 24 hours.

Deal Solidifies Full Supercross Schedule on FOX Sports Family of Networks

2014 Event Set for Saturday, March 8 on Ricky Carmichael-Designed Course

February 22, 2014 – FOX Sports and Daytona International Speedway have reached a five-year, multi-platform agreement to air the Daytona Supercross by Honda on FOX Sports 1, beginning with live coverage on Saturday, March 8 (7:30PM ET).

The event is race No. 10 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship 17-race season and is contested on the famed tri-oval over a challenging rough and sandy course designed by supercross legend and FOX Sports 1 analyst Ricky Carmichael.

“With FOX Sports doing all of the supercross races live this season, locking up Daytona is great for the fans,” said Carmichael, who won at Daytona a record five times. “Ralph (Sheheen), Jeff (Emig) and Jenny (Taft) and I have a blast calling the races, and Daytona obviously has special meaning to me, both as a racer and a course designer.”

MICHAEL WALTRIP WILL RACE WITH THE No. 20 NAPA AUTO PARTS TOYOTA CAMRY AT SPOKANE COUNTY RACEWAY THIS SATURDAY

CORNELIUS, N.C. August 21,2013 – Two-time Daytona 500 champion Michael Waltrip flies to Spokane County (Wash.) Raceway this week to ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????compete in Saturday night’s K&N Pro Series West race on the half-mile oval.

The founder and co-owner of Michael Waltrip Racing will drive the No. 20 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota for Bill McAnally Racing in the 10th race on the 15-race schedule. Waltrip finished fourth at Talladega and fifth at Daytona in Sprint Cup competition in 2013.

Saturday night’s race marks the 50-year-old Waltrip’s first K&N start in 2013. In addition to Spokane, Waltrip is slated to race Oct. 12 at All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif. He owns one win (Pikes Peak—1997), three top-five and 5 top-10 finishes in six series starts. Waltrip finished sixth at Colorado in his only series start last year.

 · PEAK Challenge’ Winner To Compete: The winner of the PEAK Stock Car Dream Challenge, Patrick Staropoli, is slated to race in the K&N West event at Spokane. In the Challenge, which premiered on FOX Sports 1 earlier this month, nine stock car racing hopefuls competed for the chance of a lifetime. Clint Bowyer, Mark Martin, Danica Patrick, Martin Truex Jr. and others coached the drivers in front of a panel of judges. Staropoli – a Florida driver who in his racing career, progressed from karting to late model stock cars – will be competing for Bill McAnally Racing at Spokane.

 · The Race: The starting field is 24 cars, including provisional. The first 20 cars will qualify through two-lap time trials. The remaining four spots will be awarded through the provisional process. The race will be 150 laps and begin at 9:50 p.m. Practice is 2:30—3:15 p.m. and 4:15-5 p.m. on Saturday followed by qualifying at 7:30 p.m. All times Eastern. The race is not broadcast.

 · NASCAR Stats: Waltrip has 1,061 starts in NASCAR’s three top series. He owns 16 wins, 103 top-five and 241 top-10 finishes. He won the Daytona 500 in 2001 and 2003.

 

FOX SPORTS INKS INTERNATIONAL MULTI-MEDIA DEAL WITH FIA FORMULA E CHAMPIONSHIP

New global electric race series to broadcast across FOX family of networks spanning 88 territories over six continents

LOS ANGELES August, 09, 2013 – FOX Sports, one of the largest global sports networks, has signed a multi-year, international multi-media deal with the FIA Formula E Championship, the world’s first fully-electric car racing series beginning in September 2014.

“This series makes racing very relevant well into the future,” said Carlos Martinez, President Latin America for FOX International Channels, who helped broker the deal.”

Formula E www.fiaformulae.com is a new FIA Championship featuring open-wheel cars powered exclusively by electricity and racing in the heart of 10 of the world’s leading cities, including two in the US with Los Angeles and Miami. Designed to promote interest and investment in electric vehicles and sustainable motoring, 10 teams each with two drivers will compete in one hour races using Formula cars capable of reaching speeds of more than 220kph with zero emissions.

As well as full US broadcast exclusivity across the FOX family of networks, including FOX Sports 1, America’s new sports network set to launch on August 17th, FOX Sports also has exclusive and non-exclusive rights in more than 80 territories including Canada, Latin America/Caribbean, Netherlands, Italy, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, key Asian territories and other areas of Asia, India and Africa.

As well as two races in the US, last month saw leading IndyCar outfit Andretti Autosport become the first US team to join Formula E. Six of the 10 teams have now been signed for the inaugural season, three of which have already been announced with Andretti Autosport, China Racing and British-based Drayson Racing.

NASCAR AND FOX SPORTS EXTEND AND EXPAND MULTI-PLATFORM RIGHTS AGREEMENT

FOX Sports Adds Two Years to Agreement Announced In October, Three More NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Races and 14 NASCAR Nationwide Series Events

NASCAR 500DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. Aug. 02, 2013 – FOX Sports and NASCAR solidified their future together last October when they announced a multi-platform, multi-series media rights agreement through 2022. Today, less than 10 months later, the two organizations announced they have extended that agreement, which begins in 2015 and runs through 2024. In addition, FOX Sports has added exclusive rights to three additional NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events and the first 14 NASCAR Nationwide Series events of each season. FOX Sports secured exclusive rights to the entire NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season through 2022 last fall and that part of the agreement also has been extended through 2024.

Financial terms of the extended agreement were not disclosed.

NASCAR’s media rights package for 2015 and beyond is now complete with FOX Sports holding rights to the first 16 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races, first 14 NASCAR Nationwide Series races and entire NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season. NBC, which last broadcast NASCAR events in 2006, will televise the final 20 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races, final 19 fox 500NASCAR Nationwide Series races and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series and NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour events beginning in 2015.

In total, NASCAR will have the same number of NASCAR Sprint Cup races on network television – 16 – as it does in the current television package. FOX Sports will broadcast nine races and NBC will show seven.

FOX Sports began broadcasting live NASCAR races in 2001 and will launch its new all-sports network, FOX Sports 1, on Aug. 17 with a live broadcast of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race from Michigan International Speedway as the network’s first-ever live event. NASCAR will be an anchor property for FOX Sports 1 and has been a large part of the promotional efforts to launch the new network. This new agreement marks the return of the NASCAR Nationwide Series to FOX Sports, a series it broadcast as part of its original package beginning in 2001.

“FOX Sports is now the exclusive home of NASCAR, the most popular racing series in America, for the first five months of every season through 2024,” said FOX Sports Co-Presidents and COOs Randy Freer and Eric Shanks. “The NASCAR Nationwide Series is second only to NASCAR Sprint Cup as the most-watched form of auto racing in the country. FOX Sports now owns the sport every weekend from Speedweeks and the Daytona 500 through June, and we expect these events to provide significant viewership for FOX Sports 1. The addition of Nationwide to the 1,100 hours of original motorsports programming already scheduled clearly puts FOX Sports at the front of the race to serve motorsports fans in the U.S.”
